Building an AI Email Auto-Reply Bot with ProxiedMail

It’s Alex, the solo founder of ProxiedMail. Today, I’m going to walk you through building an AI-powered email auto-reply bot using ProxiedMail and OpenAI ChatGPT.
What’s the AI Email Bot?
The AI Email Bot is a feature integrated into ProxiedMail that allows users to automate email responses. You can configure a bot to reply on your behalf, making it a valuable tool for automating customer communications.

What Can We Build?
Using ProxiedMail, you can build an email bot that replies to inquiries based on a pre-defined prompt. For example, you can set up a bot to answer FAQs, provide quotes, or offer support. All interactions are tracked, and you can step in to take over manually if needed.
Example: Delivery Estimation Bot
Let’s imagine we’re a small shipment delivery company. We want to automate the calculation of delivery costs based on the distance between two points in France. Here’s how we’d do it:
1. Define the Prompt
As a French delivery company, we could use this prompt:
You’re an AI email delivery bot. Consult customers about package delivery prices in France. Ask for the "from" and "to" destinations.
Calculate the distance in km and multiply it by 0.51 EUR. If the destination is in Corsica, inform the customer we don’t deliver there.
If outside France, state that we operate only in France.
2. Configure the Bot
Using the ProxiedMail UI, create a proxy email and configure the bot with the above prompt. Leave other settings at their default values for simplicity.
3. Test the Bot
Send an email to the bot’s proxy address, e.g., aideliverybot@pxdmail.com, from a different email account. The bot will reply based on the configured prompt.
All incoming and outgoing messages will be copied to your real email, allowing you to monitor and intervene if necessary.
4. Interruption Control
If you reply directly to the email, the bot will stop responding to the current session (if the "Allow Interruption" option is enabled). Once the session ends, the bot resumes handling new messages.
Setting Up Your Bot
Follow these steps to set up your AI email bot:
- Visit ProxiedMail and sign up.
- Create a proxy email.
- Configure your bot’s prompt and related options.
- Test your AI email bot.
