Another stress management seminar happens August 6th

Earlier this summer, we welcomed author and speaker, Margie Odom, LMFT to our workshop series inside HealthSpan Center for a talk called "Stress Isn't the Problem - It's the Pattern." She made sure attendees left with pages full of proactive strategies to enhance wellbeing and success.

Below is one of the tips she offered for making sure you don't start your day in a way that only adds to or compounds stress.

MORNING ROUTINE & RAS RESET
Your Reticular Activating System (RAS) determines what your brain notices. If you begin your day stressed, you'll spot more stressors. Begin with intention instead!

Steps:

1) When your alarm rings, take 5 seconds before engaging your phone.

2) Replace your first thought with an affirmation.

  • Examples: "I am grateful for this day." or "I choose calm and clarity."

3) Move your body, stretch, or breathe for at least 3 minutes.

Our monthly workshops are full of information and actionable advice and are normally $25. But as part of your Member Care Program participation, you can attend for FREE!

Our next event happens August 6th, and will feature Emily Schmiedeler, founder & certified yoga instructor at Harmony in Motion Yoga.

She will be speaking on natural strategies that use movement and breath to lower stress and improve quality of life.
