Salut Menkashoo,

Hi Menkashoo,

As the seasons change around the world, Indigenous peoples turn to ancestral practices to stay grounded and connected.

Fall is setting in, the days are getting shorter, nature is slowing down... and yet we’re speeding up. Back to school, deadlines, a frantic pace—it’s as if time is slipping through our fingers.

This mismatch is no coincidence. Colonialism imposed a linear, productivity-driven concept of time, disconnected from the natural and astronomical cycles that ancestors around the world followed with precision. And this creates a profound imbalance between our internal rhythms and the world around us.

That's why this year, we decided it was time to take a fresh look at things and bring our lives into harmony with the rhythms of life itself.

Couldn't that be the secret to happiness? The foundation of well-being? That feeling of being in tune with the world and with others.

So, if you, too, would like to take the time to better prepare for the coming year, let’s meet up over a good cup of coffee to share tips that have been used since time immemorial by Indigenous peoples right up to the present day:

  • Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 11 am to 2 pm
  • At Maison Aïdo, an Afro Café in Montreal

This year, for sure, we’re putting ourselves first, relearning to listen to what the sky, the seasons, and our bodies have always been telling us—and why not start the journey with a cup of coffee in hand, surrounded by people who are just as curious?

So, see you Sunday! Don't forget to invite a friend.
